The blooming of cherry blossoms in Osaka usually occurs in the third week of March. However, the flowering and blooming of cherry blossoms vary from year to year but usually fall around this time. The Japan Meteorological Corporation (JMC) has officially released the first cherry blossom forecast official statement and in Osaka, cherry blossoms are expected to start flowering on March 25 and fully bloom on April 1. The blooming of cherry blossoms in Japan typically lasts for about 2 weeks, particularly the Yoshino cherry trees, which are the most common species of cherry trees you will find in Japan. Other types of cherry trees can last longer, including the Yaezakura trees which have five petals. However, cherry blossoms in Osaka may start to flower as early as the first half of March. And once they reach their full bloom, they usually start to fall gradually.
